Colin Cowie, Celebrity Wedding Planner on Planning Your Wedding During the Coronavirus Pandemic
As many non-essential businesses are forced to put their
operations on hold, so are many couples seeking to get married. Colin Cowie, a
top celebrity wedding planner, gives his advice and answers questions on what
we still can do to plan
our wedding during
this uncertain time.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the country,
wreaking havoc on millions of people's health and crippling healthcare systems,
it's also devastating the economy, putting all non-essential businesses through
the wringer and halting the wedding planning industry nearly dead in
its tracks.
"If it was a problem just in America, I'd work with my
clients to plan something in Italy or the South of France, but we're all in the
same boat right now with no place to go," said Colin Cowie, a notorious
celebrity wedding planner.
According to IBISWorld, the U.S. wedding industry is worth
nearly $74 billion, and it seems as if COVID-19 has become the ultimate wedding
crasher. 'It's going to take a while for us to get confident again: to travel, socialize
and entertain one another. But eventually, we'll get there,' said Cowie. '
Based on conversations he's had with vendors and others in the
business, Cowie estimates that 90% of all weddings that were planned over the
next three to four months have either been canceled or postponed.
Cowie counts Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, and Jennifer Lopez among
some of his star clients. MarketWatch asked their readers to submit
questions to
Cowie on how soon-to-be newlyweds can continue planning for their wedding
during the coronavirus pandemic.
